Accounts

If you create an account we store the email address you provide, authentication identifiers from our identity provider (for example magic-link or OAuth session tokens), and profile fields you choose to save (display name, interests, follows, and similar preferences). Passwords are not stored by us when magic-link or OAuth is used; those flows are handled by our authentication provider.

Cookies and session

We use essential cookies and browser storage to keep you signed in, protect against abuse, remember onboarding or briefing preferences, and maintain CSRF-safe sessions. These cookies are required for account and personalization features to work. You can clear cookies in your browser; doing so will sign you out and reset local preferences.

Personalization

When you opt in, we use your topic interests, follows, and reading signals to rank and surface Morning Signal developments that match what you care about. Personalization is optional. You can change interests or related settings in My Account / My Morning Signal. Signed-out visitors receive the default public board without account-linked personalization.

Email preferences

If you subscribe to The Morning Penn State University or other email products, we store your email and preference flags so we can send the messages you requested. Every marketing or briefing email includes an unsubscribe link. Account holders can also update email preferences in My Account. Transactional messages (for example sign-in links) are sent only as needed to operate the service.

Analytics

We collect product analytics such as pages viewed, approximate device type, referrer, feature clicks (including registration and share actions), performance timings, and release identity. Analytics help us improve reliability and the product experience. We do not sell personal information. Where third-party infrastructure is used, it processes data only to provide the service under contract.

Sharing

Lion Signal provides share links and cards for individual Signal developments (for example to text, X, or Facebook). If you share a page, the destination platform receives the URL and any content you choose to send; that platform's privacy policy applies. Open Graph and Twitter card metadata are published so shared links show an accurate title, description, and image.

Information we collect

• Account email and profile preferences if you create an account
• Newsletter email and preference state if you subscribe
• Session and security cookies / tokens required to operate the service
• Usage analytics (pages, shares, device class, performance)
• Technical logs needed to secure and debug the service
• Content you submit through product features (for example takes or feedback)

How we use information

We use your information to deliver the site, authenticate you, personalize ranking when you opt in, send email you requested, prevent abuse, measure product health, and improve reliability. We do not sell your personal information.

Third parties

We use infrastructure providers (hosting, database, authentication, email, and similar tools) that process data on our behalf under contract. Original story sources are linked externally; their policies apply when you leave Lion Signal.

Your data rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, export, or delete personal data we hold about you, and to object to or restrict certain processing. You can update many preferences in My Account. To request deletion of account data, or to exercise other rights, contact us using the options below. We may need to verify your request and retain limited records where required for security, fraud prevention, or legal obligations.

Children

Lion Signal is intended for a general audience interested in college sports. It is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

Changes

We may update this policy as the product evolves. The “Last updated” date at the top will change when we do. Material changes will be reflected on this page.
